Ten Tips for Worldbuilders: A Craft Seminar by Ken Liu
Our keynote event will be an hour-long lecture by Ken. There will also be time for Q&A afterwards!
Ken Liu (http://kenliu.name) is an American author of speculative fiction. A winner of the Nebula, Hugo, and World Fantasy awards, he wrote the Dandelion Dynasty, a silkpunk epic fantasy series (starting with The Grace of Kings), as well as short story collections The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories and The Hidden Girl and Other Stories. He also penned the Star Wars novel The Legends of Luke Skywalker.
Prior to becoming a full-time writer, Liu worked as a software engineer, corporate lawyer, and litigation consultant. Liu frequently speaks at conferences and universities on a variety of topics, including futurism, cryptocurrency, history of technology, bookmaking, narrative futures, and the mathematics of origami.

Our agent partners will be giving feedback to writers in a live pitch session. Everyone is invited to watch and learn, but only a limited number of writers will be asked to pitch their writing. Sign up early if you’re interested in one of those spots!

What is a day of learning about writing without the chance to write? This will be an hour long generative writing session led by our handpicked team. Whether you’re pushing forward on a novel-in-progress, starting a new piece of short fiction, or putting together an exciting outline for your next brilliant idea—this will be a time for real, practical progress on your word count.
